Briefing
The date was June 6, 1944. As our men loaded the LCVPs, our battleships and destroyers pounded the beaches of Normandy with intense firepower and artillery. We were extremely confident that many of the coastal defenses had been destroyed and put out of commission. We also had air superiority as we gazed at the P-51 Mustangs soaring overhead towards the beaches. There were five main beaches that we had to secure today. The Opening
I could feel my heart heavily pounding inside my chest as I dashed across the lush, green meadow to meet up with my squad. The year is 1944. It is Operation Market Garden, British General Montegomerys plan to end the war by Christmas. My name is Boyd Patterson and I am a corporal attached to the 101st Airborne Division or The Screaming Eagles. Just a few minutes ago I was sitting inside a C-47, waiting for the green light to flash, when anti-aircraft fire began to fill the air. Suddenly, our plane was hit and the red light lit up. Our sergeant screamed Stand up!

Prologue
On May 10th, 1940, the Germans had invaded France, Luxembourg, and Belgium. There were many Allied casualties along the whole length of the Maginot Line and our defenses quickly began to crumble. Soon, the Germans reached the outskirts of Paris and the Allied forces held their ground as best as they could. But it was inevitable. The German forces would occupy the City of Light in a matter of weeks, and every Allied soldier knew it. Morale was extremely low and our supply lines were badly stretched thin as well. Now, I am relaxing with my squad, although a German offensive is likely.
